Fly Away
Pushwagner has truly put his fingerprints in both the art history and the Norwegian people’s soul.
The 13th of September at 18, therefore, opens the Gallery Fineart doors to PUSHWAGNERS memory exhibition Fly Away ?? A tribute to our popular love, now the passing artist icon.
“I’ll save the gold in the end” was one of Pushwagner’s mottos while at the same time reminding his colleagues that “We are not even yet …”. 73 of his 77 years used to develop his characteristic line. A stretch that mirrored a life trip to many countries and continents, ups and downs, inner and outer landscapes, visions and horror visions – a stretch that created a number of unforgettable iconic works now hanging on countless walls, from the National Museum to the many homes in Norway .
We are looking forward to show you this unique collection of Pushwagner works.
The exhibition, which extends over two floors, presents a wide range of Pushwagner’s work ?? lithographs, screen printing, D.G.A. and hand-colored graphic magazines, including the iconic works Jobkill, Parsons, Klaxton and Self Portrait.
Pushwagner lives forever through all his work. But, a couple of weeks before his death, he, together with his lawyer, wrote in an additional testament what works he wanted his staff and Stefan Stray to complete if he did not manage to pass through this last storm. These motifs are available in a limited edition, certified and marked with the Pushwagner stamp.
At the same time, 5 of Pushwagner’s new large-format screenplays will be shown – 2 x 1.5 m, printed by north Europe’s largest silkscreen board and on 450 grams cotton paper from Canson. Both printing press and paper were purchased in 2015-16, when Pushwagner embarked on this monumental project.
The exhibition is opened by Thomas Seltzer, Pushwagner’s trusted friend for many years.
